LMCC qualification is granted to graduate physicians who have satisfied the eligibility requirements and passed the MCC Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Parts I and II. The LMCC is required by medical regulatory bodies, such as the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC for the issuance of a license to practice medicine in Canada. The MCCQE Part I examination, is a one-day, computer-based test that assesses candidates’ basic medical knowledge of the principal fields of medicine including: Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Preventative Medicine & Community Health, and Surgery. It also assesses understanding of the legal, ethical and organizational aspects of the practice of medicine in Canada. The examination is divided into two parts: (i) a 196 multiple-choice question (MCQ) with which the candidates have 3½ hours allowed in the morning to complete; followed by (ii) a 4 hour clinical-decision making (CDM) component. The CDM is designed to assess problem solving and clinical decision making skills.
